Slipknot adalah sebuah band heavy metal dari Des Moines, Iowa. Dibentuk pada tahun 1995, kelompok ini didirikan oleh Shawn Crahan perkusi dan bassis Paul Gray. Setelah beberapa perubahan lineup di hari-hari awal mereka, band ini terdiri dari sembilan anggota untuk sebagian besar masa jabatan mereka: Sid Wilson, Paul Gray, Joey Jordison, Chris Fehn, Jim Root, Craig Jones, Shawn Crahan, Mick Thomson, dan Corey Taylor . Namun, kematian Paul Gray pada 24 Mei 2010 dan kepergian Joey Jordison pada tanggal 12 Desember 2013, meninggalkan band dengan tujuh anggota yang tersisa. Slipknot dikenal untuk menarik perhatian citra, gaya musik agresif, dan energik dan kacau pertunjukan live. Band ini menikmati kenaikan agak meroket kesuksesan setelah merilis album debut self-titled mereka pada tahun 1999. 2001 album tindak lanjut Iowa semakin meningkatkan popularitas band ini.
